Lloyds Tea House

This is my second visit to this place, but eating here for the first time! Last time, as we entered, all the tables were occupied and we were too hungry to wait and the waiters did not make the slightest effort to hold us back, and we thought it was appropriate to just leave. So I should say my first visit here was not very pleasant. Nevertheless, I have heard a lot of positive reviews of this place and it has always been one of the ‘places to visit’ in the back of my mind.
Today we finished shopping at the Express Avenue and planned to have dinner before heading back home. We were thinking if we should eat in one of the restaurants in the mall or explore some place outside. Immediately I thought I should try this place and I was really happy I did ! What a miss that I did not visit it all these days ! ๐Ÿ™‚
As we entered, the place was reasonably occupied for a Friday evening. We immediately got seated. The place was nicely done with antiques and show pieces on the wall. It is not so comfortably spaced for complete privacy, but it is definitely manageable. Probably one or two tables are too close, but we got a table evenly spaced from the rest. So no complaints at all.
The menu was really nice with wonderful choices and as the name says, there is an exclusive menu for Tea. I was thinking I should probably drop in with friends just for tasting varieties of tea with the the side-eats.
We started with Barbeque Chicken Fingers, American Corn Dogs and Roasted Vegetable Toast. All the three starters were wonderful. American Corn Dogs was the best among these. I would have liked the Barbeque Chicken Fingers a little dry and less spicy as the kids struggled a bit with it, but it was very tasty though. Roasted Vegetable Toast was cheesy and yummy! ย  We ordered Apricot Iced Tea and it was good. ย It was the ‘Tea of the day’ and sure it was ๐Ÿ™‚
The starters showed that this is no place for so-so food and we began to set sky-high expectations for the main course. ๐Ÿ™‚
We ordered Curried Pasta, Chicken Lasagna and Chicken Cheese Burger for the main course. The Chicken lasagna was too good, absolutely tasty. Curried Pasta had a lovely flavor of curry sauce and fresh crunchy bell peppers which added a nice taste to it. Loved it ! Chicken Cheese Burger was good, with a nice dominating flavor of pepper in it, but the chicken patty inside was a tad salty, definitely manageable though. It was my son’s choice and he was expecting something more like the McD burger ๐Ÿ˜› Wasn’t too sure if he liked it much, but I enjoyed finishing it off. ๐Ÿ˜‰
Quite full already, but didn’t want to miss out on the tempting desserts on display. Since they did not have all that was there in the menu, our waiter suggested that we take a look at the desserts on display and order from that. My wife wanted a White Chocolate Mint Brรปlรฉe since she loves mint flavor in chocolate, a typical After-Eight mint chocolate lover. Kids wanted to taste the triple chocolate cake (I think I got the name right), and we ordered one of that. I ended my dinner with a black coffee. Both the desserts were very good, coffee was excellent.
Our sky-high expectations were met, or I should say exceeded. We absolutely loved our dinner here.
Special mention and thanks to Mr.Jeffery who waited on our table. Absolutely pleasant service, helpful in suggesting dishes, and it definitely made our dining experience better.
Overall, this dinner set us back by a little more than 2K (for 2 adults and 2 children, aged 8 and 3). ย I felt it was totally worth the pleasant experience.
Lloyds Tea House is much more than just a tea house and it is definitely one of the ‘not-to-be-missed’ places.
I would visit again and recommend it to friends for a nice evening.
