Blackberry Restaurant & Bar, Vadapalani

Blackberry, the newly-opened restaurant and bar in Hotel Bhimas Temple Tree, Vadapalani !  Couldn’t wait to try.

This place brings back a lot of memories of college days; many years ago it used to be called White House Bar, then briefly it was 6th Avenue, and now rechristened as BlackBerry.
To state my experience in short – Awesome is the word! Tasty food, nice drinks and good music!
There is a bit of renovation happening in parallel, without disturbing the business, of course! The place is quite spacious with a small place to shake a leg, a retro-feel front of a car serving as the DJ console, comfortable seating to accommodate small and big groups, bar stools for the solo visitors, and a well-stocked bar with a huge collection of imported spirits.
After a quick look at the menu, decided to have Tuborg beer, and it was served super-chilled and I loved it! Food menu was quite elaborate and had a detailed main course too. However, we just focussed on the side-eats. We ordered Ghee Roast Chicken, Tangdi Kebab, and Green Salad, while repeating the beers. Ghee Roast Chicken was the highlight of the evening, loved it. Tangdi kebab was soft, succulent and had a nice flavor. French fries was sent to the table as a compliment, it was just rightly crisp and tasted yummy with the cilantro mayonnaise. Green Salad was good, the veggies were fresh and crunchy. There was nothing to complain about food. Each one was priced around 200 bucks, quite reasonable for a place like that. A couple of friends had a drink of Captain Morgan and Absolut. Throughout the time we were there, the DJ was spinning nice tracks and I loved the Punjabi Dhol beats in particular. After a good 2-3 hours of a satisfying session with friends, we called it a day! Can’t comment much about service, because it is bound to be awesome when the owner is a friend. 🙂 Guddu Anand, fondly known as Gudduji in food circles was there during our visit and was checking now and then if everything was okay. It certainly was!
Just to give a rough idea of prices (all incl.), Tuborg 650 ml was priced at 350 bucks, Captain Morgan 30ml for 300, Absolut 30ml for 275. Regular beer Kingfisher was around 300 bucks I think. Please be informed, like all places, Imported spirits and beer attract a VAT of 58% and that’s what makes it pricey. They do have offers on some drinks, Chivas had some offer, didn’t check though. Domestic spirits are a lot easier on the pockets comparitively.
We paid around 5K including food, 9 beers and a couple of imported spirits. Overall, a wonderful evening!
