After an average experience at Madurai Kumar Mess long ago when it opened next to Laksman-Sruthi near Vadapalani signal, never been motivated enough to go back there. However yesterday decided to check out their T. Nagar branch with a friend for a late dinner. Continue reading
Fromage, is French for ‘Cheese’. It was no surprise that there was a lot of cheese in the food, a wonderful Wedding Anniversary dinner with family! Continue reading
Mango Tree, and Chettinadu food? This was the first reaction when I was invited by a friend for lunch. It took me quite by surprise as the name was quite deceptive! Continue reading
I’ve been here a few times with friends, family and have always gone back satisfied. There’s something nice about this place, the food, the service or perhaps both in tandem, that make your dining experience pleasant.
Three friends and I decided to catch up for dinner that was long overdue. As we were coming from different directions, Adayar seemed to be quite in the center for all of us. Immediately I suggested Crimson Chakra based on my previous pleasant experiences here!
The restaurant is a nice renovated bungalow located on a silent street in Gandhinagar, just a little beyond Gandhinagar club. Tables are decently spaced so you don’t get a feeling of being cramped. Immediately we were seated and after a quick look at the menu, we were ready to order. We had one vegetarian friend, so had to order accordingly.
We started with Mushroom Fry, Nei Kozhi Varuval and Tangy Meen Varuval. Mushroom Fry was tasty with crispy outer. Nei Kozhi Varuval was very tasty and my favorite, small boneless pieces of chicken, just rightly spicy. Friends relished the Tangy Meen Varuval. Its Basa fish, rightly tawa-fried and friends seemed to love it. For the second round of starters, we ordered a Andhra Chilli Paneer, and its non-veg counterpart, Andhra Chilli Chicken and Mutton Kola Urundai. Since I tasted both paneer and chicken, they were quite close in flavors, but tasty. Mutton Kola was good with minced Mutton clearly making an impression on your palate. Starters were all yummy, decided to keep the main course short.
Before my friends could even look at the menu, seized the opportunity and ordered 1 Smoked Chicken Rice and 1 Smoked Veg Rice. I wanted them to taste this at any cost. Everyone unanimously loved it, after the first mouthful. The smoky flavor along with the tasty rice is something to be experienced. Its very unique and the only place that serves it in Chennai as far as I know. Again, though we were full by now, didn’t want to allow my friends to leave without tasting the elaneer souffle. I’ve had it here a few times earlier and love it. We got three since one of my friends was too stuffed to try 🙂 No different from previous times, yummylicious!
Overall a fantastic evening with wonderful food and even better company! Couldn’t have asked for anything better! Mr. Datson waited on or table and made our dining experience very pleasant.
The bill was around 2.5K, absolutely worth it! I’d gladly recommend this place for yummy food and service.
Crystal Bar in Hotel Ranjith in Nungambakkam is one of our very old hangout places. This place has an old world charm; no jarring music, no noisy crowd like some restobars these days, just a small nice setting with limited covers that can get full quite often, and the same personal service by their old-time managers and waiters. Blackberry, the newly-opened restaurant and bar in Hotel Bhimas Temple Tree, Vadapalani ! Couldn’t wait to try. Continue reading
Mainland China, has always been one of our favorite places to eat Chinese. Normally we visit the restaurant in Phoenix Market City as that’s the closest to us, but this time, since we wanted to try the dinner buffet, decided to go to their restaurant in Cenotaph Road. Continue reading
3B’s – Buddies, Bar & Barbecue; the version of AB’s – Absolute Barbecues that serves liquor! It is located on Hanumantha Road, a street off North Usman Road in T Nagar, exactly where Barbeque Nation was located earlier. Continue reading
Can’t remember how many times I have visited Petuk! I just love it! Every time I have returned satisfied after having tasty food. That says a lot about their consistency, and having their basics very right. I love trying different cuisines, and this is one of the very few places in Chennai that serves absolutely lip-smacking Bengali food. Continue reading
I have been to their Karapakkam outlet a couple of times, and once had food delivered to a friend’s place from their Navalur outlet. Since the time they opened in Thuraipakkam, I have been thinking of visiting them, but guess what? The recently-opened branch at Velachery is the closest it can get for me. Decided to try a casual lunch with wifey here! Continue reading
