California Pizza Kitchen

We have heard about this place earlier from friends and this restaurant opened in Phoenix Market City in Velachery.  We had planned a Saturday outing for some shopping and combined a lunch at this place along with it.  The pizzas were thin-crust and tasty, they had some options for children.  So the pasta with cheese was perfect for my 3-year-old daughter. She loved it.  Nice ambience, good food, and overall, it was a nice dining experience.

Dindigul Thalapakatti Restaurant

This review is for their restaurant at ECR (the same complex as the Dominos pizza)
We were two families who visited for dinner quite late after watching a movie at Mayajaal. The time must have been around 10:15PM. When we entered, there were a few people having food.
We were not informed of the closing time, no indication that things might not be available in about 15-20 minutes from then.
When we started to order, things were ok. We wanted to order more, we were informed that they are not available. ‘Closing time’ !!!!!
Kal Dosa-NO, Normal Dosa -NO, Desserts-NO ! The manager should have seen this coming and informed us in advance that they would close soon and not screw up our dinner half way.
The food was tasty, no doubt, BUT I felt the quantity was attrocious for the price. We ordered 2 Chicken koththu parottas, and I was not eating it for the first time. That is one of my favorite items..It was so little that I ate both ! Wanted to order another one for my son, Same ‘NO’ again !!
Overall Good Food, Bad experience !

A nice theme, nice food, nice activities, overall a very good outing worth the money you pay. Rs 550 for adults and Rs 350 for children aged between 3 and 9. This includes the food also. You also get free coupons for various activities and that was very good. You didn’t have to spend extra money on them, the coupons were sufficient. Continue reading

A street food festival in Chennai that was on 02nd-04th August 2013 in Island Grounds. The event was overall good and my friend and I managed to taste quite a few dishes and loved it. The stalls were selling food from all over India ! It was definitely expensive. Going by the price, it is not even close to street food. It was street food with star prices.

Pizza Republic

First visit to Pizza Republic @ Taramani ! A decent experience.
Ambience – Quite ok, a bit deserted so kinda felt odd all alone with my son at 03:45PM, otherwise ok..
A chicken Supreme pizza with Multi-grain crust – Wonderful! Juicy, crunchy fresh toppings – onion, capsicum, Jalapenos, and Chicken !
A chicken Taco – so so. It was too flimsy..couldnt pick and eat without it falling off..didnt quite enjoy it as much.
A Chicken Burrito – Awesome! nice flavor and taste..loved it.

Visited Adambakkam outlet in a few days, ambience was better than Taramani, more spacious and the pizzas were wonderful, burrito was not as good as Taramani.  Overall, this pizza place is decent.

if you look at it expense-wise, I still think the ‘Buy one- Get one’ offer in Domino’s on Wednesdays will beat this hands down !  2 Large Pizzas for around Rs 550 is a steal for the quality you get at Dominos.

Kryptos By Willi

Went with family for dinner and as always the food was excellent. One Veg mezze platter for two, a baked chicken roll for starters. Yummy. One paneer skewer, a chicken and cheese kebab and one chicken with garlic something with pilaf rice for main course..overall excellent food..Last time remember chicken and cheese kebabs came with potato wedges, this time it was rice…anyways good food…

Again same as last time, would like to point out the AC was not how I expected it to be..it was suffocating at times..had to tell them twice to reduce the temp. to make it cooler…

Had a 20% off coupon from the Pizzarazzi contest, so made use of it this time.

Kryptos remains one of our favorite places in Chennai ! Would definitely visit again and recommend it to friends.

Cream Centre

We were two families with kids and we went to this place for Dinner. Since we did not have a prior reservation, we were asked to wait. After about 15 minutes, our names were called. Until then, the small play area kept the kids busy.
The menu was very impressive with a good choice of food. The photographs on the menu were even more tempting. Overall, the food was very good, not a smallest complaint. I’m not going into each of them, but my photos may be able to convey how it was.
What I felt was lacking was proactive service. The tables were not cleared as and when we finished starters, food and drinks. So we literally had no place on the table when the waiter showed up with two sizzlers in his hands. So I had to jump out and remove the plates and make place for them. That should have been done by them. It was very difficult to get an eye contact with any waiter, even a shout wouldn’t get them to your table. A reluctant service was disappointing.
Otherwise everything was fine and we had a nice evening. I would go there again and definitely recommend it to friends.
