Thoppu Varuval, Erode

This is the second or third time I am visiting a restaurant like this, quite popular in and around Salem and Erode. It is known by various names – Sattikari, Manpaanai samayal, Naattukozhi Unavagam, and so on. Saravana Naattukozhi Unavagam in Attur was the first time I experienced something like this. Hotel Sri Kamatchi, Pondicherry

Perhaps I went with too high expectations after hearing so much about this place, or perhaps it was their one off day, I wasn’t very impressed with the whole experience! It wasn’t bad, but then it wasn’t wow, I’ll tell you why! Continue reading

Ajantha Sea View Hotel, Pondicherry

In Pondicherry, there are umpteen regular bars, roof garden bars, etc. This felt really close to the beach and couldn’t be any better! Continue reading

Sandhya Mannpaanai Hotel, Batlagundu – Dindigul bypass

Wonderful homely lunch at Sandhya Mannpaanai Hotel, bang on the Bypass Road connecting Batlagundu and Dindigul. The place is roughly 10km after Batlagundu, on your left, when travelling towards Dindigul.  Continue reading

Surve’s Pure Non-Veg, FC Road, Pune

The foodie in me specifically searched for a nice Maharashtrian non-veg Thali and zeroed in on two places. Maratha Samrat and Surve’s Pure Non-Veg. Couldn’t make it to the former as we were delayed. So decided to go to Surve’s Pure Non-Veg on FC Road.  Continue reading

Sri Gowri Sankar, Attur

Yummy,  delicious breakfast in Attur!
Hotel Sri Gowri Sankar is located right next to the Bus Stand, opposite to the Periyar Statue. It had a bright board and was hard to miss.  Through there seemed to be a few other restaurants around, somehow this was most prominent among them. Continue reading

Saravana Naattukkozhi Unavagam, Attur

Naattukozhi Unavagam, Mannpaanai Samayal, Chattikkari, these are terms used to refer to roadside South-Indian eateries on the highways in and around Salem, Erode and Namakkal districts in Tamil Nadu, a sort of a Dhaba you may say, but not Punjabi. They have been around for a few years now, but have been getting a lot of attention on various food groups only in the recent past. One of my friends suggested that we try out one such place for dinner, just on the outskirts of Attur. Continue reading

Akshaya Bhavan, Tiruvallur

One of the very nice places for food enroute Tiruttani/Tirupati. We make sure we reach here for either breakfast or dinner. This time, heading back from Tirupati, we reached here roughly around 09:00PM for dinner. Vegetarian, of course! Continue reading

Le Yogi, Mahabalipuram

A pleasant relaxed lunch at Le Yogi, in Mahabalipuram. We were a group of four friends who decided to go to Mahabalipuram on a weekend and stepped into this place for a lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Continue reading
