The Kandyan, Besant Nagar

After finishing some work in Besant Nagar, myself and wifey wanted to have lunch and we decided to have something simple and not very elaborate. As we drove along, suddenly remembered Y Cook and decided to have simple Sri Lankan food. As we entered, realized that Y Cook is now renamed to ‘The Kandyan’. Continue reading

Nellai Vairamaligai, T. Nagar

This place has been on my list from the time they opened, long ago. Somehow, have never ventured beyond Courtallam Border Rahmath Kadai whenever we have been in T. Nagar. This time, a friend and I decided to try this place for dinner and I am glad we did. This place is located bang on Thirumalai Pillai Road, opposite to Vidyodaya school. Continue reading

Madurai Junction, Neelangarai

Very recently happened to see a post on social media about a restaurant called Madurai Junction, couldn’t wait to try! A friend and I had some work in Thiruvanmiyur and immediately decided to check this place out for lunch. Continue reading

Jonah’s Bistro, Velachery

Suddenly it felt like quite a long time since we, as a family, went out for dinner. Immediately made up a plan for Saturday evening – a movie at Jazz cinemas, followed by dinner in one of the restaurants in the shopping mall. That was it, we were all set for the evening!
After the movie, we had a quick discussion among ourselves and decided to have dinner at Jonah’s goes to Japan, probably now just called ‘Jonah’s Bistro, Velachery’. I have been here before and have had a good experience, so I was quite sure everything was going to be okay. Continue reading

Evoke 2.0, Velachery

Until a couple of years ago, Velachery was a place with two extremes if you wanted to have a drink. It was either the five-star hotels like Park Hyatt and Westin or the local TASMACs until Diff 42 changed the scene. Since they were the only place in the mid-segment, I felt they went a bit too overboard with their rules. Now there’s another place in Velachery that aims to tap into this space. Decided to check it out, along with a friend of mine. Continue reading

Velu Family Restaurant, Nungambakkam

A pretty mediocre experience at Velu Family Restaurant on Valluvar Kottam High Road. Earlier, it used to be known as Velu Military Hotel, and used to be quite popular amoung our friends’ circles. Since it has been a while, a friend and I decided to try! Continue reading

Gomathi Mess, Mandaveli

Finally had a chance to taste food at one of the oldest tiffin places in Chennai – Gomathi Mess in Mandaveli. I’ve been hearing about this place from a few foodie friends and decided to try it today, for breakfast. Continue reading

Prems Graama Bhojanam, Anna Nagar

The name ‘Prems Graama Bhojanam’ needs no introduction in Chennai’s food scene. Right from the day they started, they have been only getting better and better, passionately serving their customers with ‘health quotient’ as their primary focus! An attempt to serve food that was the staple diet of our earlier generations has been very well received, amidst the growing footprint of ‘fast’ food. When I heard they opened another outlet at Anna Nagar, I couldn’t wait to try ! Continue reading

Kumarakom, Perungudi

Few things are just not meant to be, however hard you try to tweak the outcome! Continue reading

Kappa Chakka Kandhari, Nungambakkam

How can one review a Kerala restaurant without sampling their seafood and beef preparations? So I preferred to go along with a few other foodies, who are quite prominent in the Chennai Food Scene, with a palate for beef and seafood. So this review is a sort of a mix of opinions of a few individuals based on what each one sampled. Lets call them N, G, K and myself. Continue reading
