Have been here with family about 4-5 times and last visit was about a month ago.
It is the same place previously known as Palimar restaurant. Entrance is on Nungambakkam High Road, just before The Park Hotel. The parking in this complex is cramped in general, however, they have a decent arrangement for Vegnation customers, so there is a dedicated place. Just ask the parking guys and they will direct you.
Tip: After you finish food and you are about to leave, ask for the parking token at the cash counter. You have to give that Token to the parking guy. That is the proof of having visited the restaurant 🙂
The restaurant has a decent seating arrangement, two sections, one for buffet and another for a la carte.
Moderately priced, special rate for children.
Decent food, a couple of starters, decent spread, a couple of desserts. Soup, breads and icecream served on the table. No complaints with these at all.
The issue is that one day you have a wonderful time and if you come back again, then you find starters are not tasty, soup is not hot, they dont refill soon, takes ages to bring roti to table and all this leaves you unsatisfied. Overall quality and service is inconsistent.
There is a pan shop right outside the restaurant and he makes wonderful Pan 🙂 thats a must-try 😀
This is a good Chettinad restaurant that belong to the Shyam Group (The Dhaba, Amaravathi, Shogun, etc). So almost all places, you will see these restaurants together.
We have tried quite a few branches in Chennai – RK Salai, T-Nagar, Besant Nagar, Velachery, Chrompet and found that the quality and service was good in most places, except Chrompet.
My most recent visit was with friends to the restaurant in Velachery. It was a friend’s treat and we were about ten of us for dinner. Good and tasty food, nice variety, quick service and nothing worth complaining at all ! There was a Dosa festival going on with some good choices on the menu.
I have tried their home-delivery quite a few times and that was also ok. Sunday lunch can take a while to be delivered because of the demand. Expect at least 45 mins to 1 hour for delivery.
A decent place to visit.

This review is for their restaurant in Velachery.
Since we stay close to this restaurant, it is obviously one of the “favorites” when we suddenly plan to eat out and have limited time at our disposal. It is better than many other options nearby.
The food is very good and tasty, and the service is quick. They have a wonderful variety of appams and they are made in a “live counter” so you can actually see it being made.
They have reasonably priced combos so you dont have to order too much and waste.
Most of the waiters dont speak Tamil 🙂 , so it might get a little difficult with Tamil names, better to point it out on the Menu and be sure to get what you ordered.
Since there are a couple of BPOs close by, there is a never-ending stream of people until late in the night. So be prepared for a wait for about 10 minutes to get a table.
They have an option of Home Delivery, the food arrives within reasonable time and is quite ok too, but only when you go and eat in the restaurant, you know what you miss when you order for home delivery.
Definitely worth a visit now and then !

We have been here with family about three times and the most recent visit was in August 2012.
First of all the place is a little difficult to find, I mean, its not a building with a big entrance on the main road, but more like an apartment. It is just next to the Wills Lifestyle store. You need to find the board, drive inside and the valet parking really helps here. The restaurant is on the second floor. There is a lift and it works, no issues 🙂
The ambience of the restaurant was good. Decent seating arrangements, small though. Once we felt the AC was a little too cold on our heads, but was soon adjusted.
The food was really very tasty and we all loved it. Have tried Chicken Sashlik with fried rice, Yoko special chicken sizzler, Prawn sashlik, and vegetarian too with Mushrooms and stuff, cant remember the name. All of them were tasty and no complaints at all ! We all liked it.
Those who would like to taste sizzlers should go here !

This review is for their T-Nagar restaurant.
They serve good authentic South-Indian food. Everything is fine and tasty, but grossly over-priced. They make money in all possible ways 🙂 They charge separately for idly molaga podi (thats a powder mixed with oil and eaten with idly/dosa). Even these things can be overlooked, when you pay Rs 200 for breakfast, wouldnt you pay another Rs 10 or 15 more? Thats also ok.
Getting a table is a nightmare. You have to wait outside the restaurant, give your name and seats required to the guy at the door and he will call out when the table is free. Basically the reaction on people’s faces when their name is called is nothing short of winning a lottery.
As I said earlier, food was good, nothing worth complaining. However, because of the crowd, you are constantly under pressure to finish fast. The Waiters expect you to order quickly, eat quickly and get out quickly. In fact, if you choose to delay it a bit, the waiter will ask you if your bill can be brought. Slow-eaters will struggle, similarly with kids, it is not a good idea.
If you have a catch a train and you only have 30 minutes to reach and want to finish breakfast within that time, THIS IS THE PLACE ! You will reach the station ten minutes in advance. 🙂

A wonderful place to visit. Nice ambience, a nice concept – grill on the table.
Nice variety for both non-vegetarian and vegetarian folks. in addition to what you barbeque on your table, you are served more starters, kebabs from the kitchen.
You can go on with the starters as long as you like within the stipulated 3 hours window. (Typically, for dinner, you have to reserve your table either at 7PM or 10PM or try your luck on a weekday in the evening. Weekends without reservation is just NOT a possibility).
Buffet spread for the main course is just ok, nothing really that shouldnt be missed. Probably after the binge on the starters, it makes you feel that way about the main-course.
Generally, we go there for starters+desserts, not the main course. 🙂
Once you are settled in your table, it gets better. But until you manage to sit, you have to put up with the crowd.
Overall, easily one of the best restaurants in Chennai. Definitely recommended.

It used to be a very good place to visit, nowadays hardly visible from the road after all new buildings have come up. Needs a facelift, a well-lit name board, bright lights and so on.
It has been a few months since we visited this place, cant remember April or May 2012. Earlier, we used to visit this place quite frequently. Their buffet is ok, not too great. Tiffin items like Dosa, idly-sambhar, etc have always been good.
Chat is ok in the evenings. Seating outside is not very clean, so better indoors.
Idly and Sambhar is still the best compared to other places in the neighbourhood.
Yes, once in a while!
