Flavours of Vietnam, Benjarong

For quite sometime, I have been politely refusing invites from various PR Agencies to attend food festivals and blog about it, primarily because this space has become a bit too crowded, and the pleasure of interacting with the Chef, getting to know about the food, and patiently clicking pics before relishing the food is totally lost. When it is a personal invite from the Chef himself, there is NO reason to think twice! It was an absolute pleasure and privilege to try Vietnamese cuisine at Benjarong where Chef Ramkumar and Chef Nguyen Thi Nho from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, have together curated the menu for the food festival – ‘Flavours of Vietnam’. Four years ago, I have attended the very same food festival at Benjarong and blogged about it here. This time, I had a decent idea of what to expect. Continue reading

Eating Circles, Alwarpet

My second visit to Eating Circles, Alwarpet, this time with family. They relished the food as much as I did! I also tried a couple of dishes I missed last time. Continue reading

Eating Circles, Alwarpet

The moment I heard from a few friends in food circles that a place called Eating Circles opened in C P Ramaswamy Road, and it serves the typical Bengaluru/Mysuru Benne Dosa, I decided to check it out right away! It has been a long search in Chennai to get the same texture of Benne Dosa, the typical Bengaluru CTR and MTR types. I can say with confidence that this is the closest, that I have had in Chennai! Continue reading

Spoonbill

I’ve lost count of how many times I have visited this place!
Spoonbill on TTK Road has been one of my favorite places when you’re not in a mood for ‘normal’ lunch. Don’t feel like having North Indian, South-Indian, and kids like to have some sausages, and something different, we head to this place. Continue reading

Batlivala & Khanabhoy

Sometimes we end up in a place where we literally have no clue of the cuisine, our visit today to Batlivala & Khanabhoy was one such experience. In the end, did we enjoy the food or not? Of course, we did! My co-brother’s family came over for the weekend and it was already decided that they would be taking us out for lunch and it was on him. I was asked to do the honours of choosing the place. Immediately scanned my to-do list and this place came up. I was a bit confused if we should opt for Meena Tai or this place and we decided to go with the latter. Continue reading

Flavours of Lalgudi, Alwarpet

Flavours of Lalgudi in Alwarpet was on my list for a long time. In spite of visits to Alwarpet, it just didn’t happen. Today myself and a friend were returning home from RK Salai towards Velachery. We decided to have dinner enroute. As we were proceeding on C P Ramaswamy road, immediately decided to step in. Continue reading

Thai Food House

There is a reason why people say abstinence is the only fool-proof way of losing weight. ‘Moderation’ is a myth as far as my eating out is concerned. You realize that when all meetings end with a lunch or dinner. It was one such day myself and a friend decided to have dinner after meeting another friend on Chamiers Road. Not knowing where to go, took a left into the TTK Road, and immediately spotted this place. Looked no further, decided to eat here ! Continue reading

Jonah’s meets Chef Willi

It was a sudden plan to go out for dinner. We had a guest at home and decided to eat out and I was struggling to choose between two wonderful places that I haven’t visited – Bombay Brasserie in Nungambakkam and Jonah’s meets Chef Willi in Alwarpet. I didn’t know it would be so easy for my kids to decide, they immediately said Jonah’s!  They wanted Pizza and Pasta and not North-Indian. That’s it, Jonah’s it was ! Continue reading

Ox & Tomato

Ox & Tomato – A very catchy name, hard to miss when you drive on St. Mary’s Road. I must have crossed this place so many times, but somehow have never entered this place, probably because it looks small, or whatever. Continue reading

New Town Coffee House

New Town Coffee House was on our to-do list for quite sometime now, and at last managed to visit the place for dinner. It was a very pleasant experience overall, with good food and even better service. Continue reading
