Mami Tiffen Stall, Mylapore

I have heard so much about Mami Tiffen Stall in Mylapore, but never had a chance to try this place until today. A foodie friend and I decided to check this place out and headed to Mylapore. I knew it was roughly near Kalathi Paper Mart, so it was easy to locate. Pleasantly surprised to see the AC dining section which was opened about a month ago. Continue reading

Old Madras Baking Company, T. Nagar

New day, a new beginning! A friend and I decided to check out Old Madras Baking Company for breakfast as we were headed to T Nagar for some work. Only two of their outlets serve breakfast and T Nagar is one of them. Rest of the outlets are primarily bakeries, selling freshly baked goodies ! The moment I think of a typical breakfast with Bread, Eggs, Chicken and Black Coffee, I am literally transported back to my days in Oslo, Norway. Continue reading

Thanjavur Mess, West Mambalam

Thanjavur Mess in West Mambalam is one of the very old joints that serves good vegetarian food. Tired of the usual places in Velachery, a friend and I decided to have breakfast here! Continue reading

Hotel Pandia’s, Royapuram

After looking at the mouth-watering food pictures from Hotel Pandia’s in food groups, added it to my to-do list right away! Yes, I am referring to their branches in North Madras – apparently, there are two outlets in Royapuram and one in Washermanpet. Its only two or three times I have come to this part of the city. Not quite sure with the directions, after enquiring with a couple of auto drivers, spotted one in Cemetry Road in Royapuram, and decided to try! Since they were all the same brand, didn’t feel the need to go all the way to Washermanpet. Continue reading

Eating Circles, Alwarpet

The moment I heard from a few friends in food circles that a place called Eating Circles opened in C P Ramaswamy Road, and it serves the typical Bengaluru/Mysuru Benne Dosa, I decided to check it out right away! It has been a long search in Chennai to get the same texture of Benne Dosa, the typical Bengaluru CTR and MTR types. I can say with confidence that this is the closest, that I have had in Chennai! Continue reading

Rayar’s Mess, Mylapore

Everytime I have been here, it has been the same story – a minimum wait of 30-35 minutes to get a table and a steady stream of customers. Has my opinion of the place changed? Not really! Rayar’s Mess located in Arundale Street, in Mylapore is what we’re talking about ! Continue reading
