Mainland China, Teynampet

Mainland China, has always been one of our favorite places to eat Chinese. Normally we visit the restaurant in Phoenix Market City as that’s the closest to us, but this time, since we wanted to try the dinner buffet, decided to go to their restaurant in Cenotaph Road. Continue reading

3B’s – Buddies, Bar & Barbecue, T. Nagar

3B’s – Buddies, Bar & Barbecue; the version of AB’s – Absolute Barbecues that serves liquor! It is located on Hanumantha Road, a street off North Usman Road in T Nagar, exactly where Barbeque Nation was located earlier. Continue reading

Petuk, Perungudi

Can’t remember how many times I have visited Petuk!  I just love it!  Every time I have returned satisfied after having tasty food. That says a lot about their consistency, and having their basics very right.  I love trying different cuisines, and this is one of the very few places in Chennai that serves absolutely lip-smacking Bengali food. Continue reading

Rasavid, Velachery

I have been to their Karapakkam outlet a couple of times, and once had food delivered to a friend’s place from their Navalur outlet. Since the time they opened in Thuraipakkam, I have been thinking of visiting them, but guess what? The recently-opened branch at Velachery is the closest it can get for me. Decided to try a casual lunch with wifey here! Continue reading

Viscosity, Velachery

After hearing about this place for quite sometime, finally got a chance to check it out! A couple of friends and I decided to catch up over beer and wanted a place in and around Velachery. Diff 42 and Evoke 2.0 were the obvious choices. Since I have already tried these places, I decided to check out a new place, and I’m glad I did. Continue reading

The Kandyan, Besant Nagar

After finishing some work in Besant Nagar, myself and wifey wanted to have lunch and we decided to have something simple and not very elaborate. As we drove along, suddenly remembered Y Cook and decided to have simple Sri Lankan food. As we entered, realized that Y Cook is now renamed to ‘The Kandyan’. Continue reading

Nellai Vairamaligai, T. Nagar

This place has been on my list from the time they opened, long ago. Somehow, have never ventured beyond Courtallam Border Rahmath Kadai whenever we have been in T. Nagar. This time, a friend and I decided to try this place for dinner and I am glad we did. This place is located bang on Thirumalai Pillai Road, opposite to Vidyodaya school. Continue reading

Madurai Junction, Neelangarai

Very recently happened to see a post on social media about a restaurant called Madurai Junction, couldn’t wait to try! A friend and I had some work in Thiruvanmiyur and immediately decided to check this place out for lunch. Continue reading

Flavours of Vietnam, Benjarong

For quite sometime, I have been politely refusing invites from various PR Agencies to attend food festivals and blog about it, primarily because this space has become a bit too crowded, and the pleasure of interacting with the Chef, getting to know about the food, and patiently clicking pics before relishing the food is totally lost. When it is a personal invite from the Chef himself, there is NO reason to think twice! It was an absolute pleasure and privilege to try Vietnamese cuisine at Benjarong where Chef Ramkumar and Chef Nguyen Thi Nho from Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, have together curated the menu for the food festival – ‘Flavours of Vietnam’. Four years ago, I have attended the very same food festival at Benjarong and blogged about it here. This time, I had a decent idea of what to expect. Continue reading

Jonah’s Bistro, Velachery

Suddenly it felt like quite a long time since we, as a family, went out for dinner. Immediately made up a plan for Saturday evening – a movie at Jazz cinemas, followed by dinner in one of the restaurants in the shopping mall. That was it, we were all set for the evening!
After the movie, we had a quick discussion among ourselves and decided to have dinner at Jonah’s goes to Japan, probably now just called ‘Jonah’s Bistro, Velachery’. I have been here before and have had a good experience, so I was quite sure everything was going to be okay. Continue reading
