Sree Annapoorna, Coimbatore

I had to make a very quick trip to Coimbatore and I stayed in Hotel Comfort in R.S.Puram. Since this was not a relaxing trip, I did not have the luxury of trying out different places to eat. So I stuck to the closest restaurant to where I stayed, that was also undoubtedly the best in that area. It was ‘Sree Annapoorna’. Continue reading

Sree Annapoorna, Coimbatore

This restaurant has been and is the best option for Vegetarian food in Coimbatore. Havent tried the meals here, so cant comment on that, but the south-Indian tiffin items like Idly, Dosa, Pongal, Vadai, etc are just wonderful. You get a wonderful Filter coffee to end the breakfast 🙂 !
There is a steady crowd always and if you are a family of four, you can get an exclusive table. but if you are just one or two, and there is a lot of crowd, be prepared to share the table. You will not get an exclusive one. Service is very good and fast.
If you are in Coimbatore, a South-Indian breakfast at this restaurant is a must-have!

Sree Annapoorna Lodging, Coimbatore

I stayed in this hotel on the night of 21/07/2012. I travelled to Coimbatore with my family to meet my grandparents and basically the plan was to spend most of the time at their place and just have a decent place to sleep for the night.
This hotel is in R.S.Puram and is easily accesible. There is an auto stand nearby, you may call for call-taxis, or take a bus. Getting to and fro is very easy.
The room was clean, beds/blankets were very neat, asked for an extra bed and it was also done immediately and was comfortable. There was an LCD TV and some Tamil channels and that worked fine. Ordered coffee from room service and got it quite soon. The AC worked fine as expected. There was a small balcony and fresh air and sunlight in the morning was a perfect start to the day. Overall the room was spacious, and clean for a good sleep.
Their restaurant is supposed to be one of the best options for vegetarian food in Coimbatore. I have eaten here earlier, but not this time.
Dont expect a plush ambience, lounge, etc as you enter. As the name states, it is a decent lodging, not a plush hotel. So be prepared for ordinary door handles (the old type with a seperate lock), old bathroom fixtures, etc, but nothing worth complaining.
Recommended for a visit with a purpose for just for a day or two. Not a place if you expect to relax for a long vacation.
