Pupil, Besant Nagar

An outing with the kids to Besant Nagar beach implied that we were going to eat dinner somewhere in the vicinity. Kids were quite particular about Pupil as we have already been there a couple of times and they always liked it. They were in no mood to visit a new place for the sake of my blogging, so I gave up ! Continue reading

Chakraa Food Truck, Sholinganallur

I should admit this was a bit of gluttony, but what would you do when everything you eat tastes yummy! Yeah, this is one place I have been waiting to visit right from the moment they opened. Crimson Chakra has recently started operations in their first food truck! Long ago, there used to be a few of them in and around Panagal Park and slowly they disappeared. To my knowledge, after many years, in the recent past, Kaaram opened their food truck on Velachery Bypass Road, Chaska near Thiruvanmiyur Beach, and now Chakraa in Sholinganallur. I’ve heard they are yet to finalize the location, and at the moment, they operate from in front of Swaram Speciality Hospital in Sholinganallur. Its on the road connecting OMR and ECR, when driving from OMR towards ECR, you have to make a U-turn before the toll and you’ll spot it on your left hand side. Continue reading

Saravana Naattukkozhi Unavagam, Attur

Naattukozhi Unavagam, Mannpaanai Samayal, Chattikkari, these are terms used to refer to roadside South-Indian eateries on the highways in and around Salem, Erode and Namakkal districts in Tamil Nadu, a sort of a Dhaba you may say, but not Punjabi. They have been around for a few years now, but have been getting a lot of attention on various food groups only in the recent past. One of my friends suggested that we try out one such place for dinner, just on the outskirts of Attur. Continue reading

Street Food Scene, Besant Nagar Beach

Myself and a friend decided to meet up in Besant Nagar beach this evening! The plan was to chat for sometime, eat food, and leave! It did sound a bit weird, I should admit. We’re used to catching up over a few drinks or a couple of beers followed by dinner, but since we had some work later on, we couldn’t start with a drink. So we had to be contended with just food. Continue reading

Courtallam Border Rahmath Kadai, Thuraipakkam

As our first choice Thalaserry Corner Thattukada didn’t materialize, because it was closed, myself and a friend decided to head towards OMR to check out some nice place to have dinner. It was quite late in the night, around 10:30PM and unfortunately most of the places were in the shutting-down mode. Quite disappointed, we headed back towards Velachery, and thats when we spotted the bright, welcoming, busy place in Thuraipakkam – Courtallam Border Rahmath Kadai. ¬†We were delighted to say the least! Continue reading

Hotel Crescent, Nungambakkam

What better than a non-vegetarian breakfast on a Sunday Morning ! Most of the places I know serve Idiyappam and Mutton Paya for breakfast. Since I have restrictions by choice to eating red meat, my friend suggested that I should head to Hotel Crescent in Nungambakkam for tasty Kerala Chicken dishes. In spite of hearing about this place, haven’t been there ever, so decided to tick this place off my list. I should admit that I have a liking for Kerala food, so there was no looking back. Continue reading

Tryst Cafe, Neelangarai

A late, relaxed lunch with family was the plan for Pongal festival after puja and an elaborate breakfast at home. It was almost 3PM before we were even remotely close to being hungry. Decided to check out a place with an outdoor sitting. A few names popped up in my mind – Amethyst, Bella Ciao, Shiraz Art Cafe and Tryst Cafe. Few of these places closed around 3PM and 3:30PM and that wasn’t going to work! So wanted a place that was open for all-day dining ! Remembered a recent post from another foodie in one of the Facebook food groups, and immediately decided to try Tryst cafe, and I was glad I did! Continue reading
