Hotel Crescent, Nungambakkam

What better than a non-vegetarian breakfast on a Sunday Morning ! Most of the places I know serve Idiyappam and Mutton Paya for breakfast. Since I have restrictions by choice to eating red meat, my friend suggested that I should head to Hotel Crescent in Nungambakkam for tasty Kerala Chicken dishes. In spite of hearing about this place, haven’t been there ever, so decided to tick this place off my list. I should admit that I have a liking for Kerala food, so there was no looking back. Mana Andhra

An absolutely unplanned dinner. Had to meet someone in Cafe Coffee Day, The Square in Nungambakkam. The meeting took much longer than expected and quite hungry that we were, headed straight into this place which is right next to Cafe Coffee Day in Khader Nawaz Khan Road, in Nungambakkam. Continue reading

Anise, Taj Coromandel

When I need a beer or two well past midnight, the first name that comes to my mind is Anise in Taj Coromandel in Nungambakkam. I like The Flying Elephant in Park Hyatt too, and it is even closer to home, but they have some limitations with Stags entry on weekends. Didn’t want to take a chance and end up in The Dining Room, headed straight to Taj Coromandel instead. Continue reading

Sandy’s Chocolate Laboratory

Myself and a friend had to meet someone in Khader Nawaz Khan Road in Nungambakkan, and the moment you hear ‘KNK Road’, you know you’re going to eat in one of the nice places in that area. I have visited quite a few restaurants there, but this time, I ticked off one of the nice places which has been on my list for too long. It is not that I haven’t heard about Sandy’s Chocolate Laboratory earlier, but just did not manage to get a seat the last two times I tried. Continue reading

Anise – Taj Coromandel

Haven’t been here too many times and invariably visit this place when we run out of options in the city for a drink, after midnight. Same was the case this time and myself and a friend stepped in for a couple of beers. Decided to stick on to the usual place Anise. Started with a couple of beers. After an hour or so, began to feel hungry and we wanted to eat something. Continue reading

Maplai

I’ve been waiting to try this restaurant since the time it opened. TheMad Chef of Maplai had also invited me for food tasting. Unfortunately I couldn’t make it as I was out of station for a while. The mixed reviews on the Facebook group only increased my curiosity about this place. I was waiting for an opportunity when an informal meet-up with a friend at Nungambakkam came up this morning. Back of my mind, I already decided that my lunch was going to be at Maplai. Since my friend had other plans for lunch, I was left alone. Normally I do not prefer to dine alone, but today I had no choice. Proceeded to Maplai and it was quite easy to locate, bang on the main road on Sterling Avenue, in Nungambakkam. Continue reading
