Thambi Vilas, T. Nagar

After a very average experience on my first attempt for a Sunday lunch with family, gathered courage to drop in for the second time, as a solo diner, as this has been one of the places that has had quite a few mixed reviews! One person comes out praising while the other comes out cursing  I really couldn’t draw a conclusion about this place with just one visit ! Continue reading

Sapthagiri Food Cart, Natesan Park, T Nagar

I have lost count of how many times I have eaten here, but till date, they dish out one of the best Nei(ghee) Podi Dosais in the city ! Based out of a Thalluvandi (foodcart), located adjacent to Natesan Park, diagonally opposite to Hotel Saravana Bhavan, Sapthagiri has withstood the test of time. Continue reading

Nasi Kandar Pelita

Nasi Kandar Pelita, this used to be one of the very regular places for lunch almost 10 years back when I was working in an IT company in T Nagar. A gang of friends used to eat here, at least once or twice a week, for many many months. It used to be one of the most happening eating joints during those times. Continue reading

Shyam’s Bombay Halwa House

My sister’s family invited us out for a dinner outing and I was given the responsibility for choosing a restaurant. Decided to go to Shyam’s Bombay Halwa House as it was meant to be a vegetarian dinner. I’ve heard many things about this place, but never been here earlier. The location was pretty clear as I was quite familiar with this area, G N Chetty Road in particular. Continue reading

AB’s Absolute Barbecues

In all probability, I might be in the minority in calling this place ‘good, nothing extraordinary’ ! Finally managed to push myself to Absolute Barbecues, more than a year after they opened. I was quite keen on visiting this place as soon as they opened, but after a couple of unsuccessful attempts to reserve a table on phone, and a couple of failed walk-ins, I gave up. Since then I have never attempted to visit this place. Continue reading

Blacksmith Grills

A wonderful evening with great food and great company! One of my friends wanted to host a dinner party to a bunch of our friends and we were sort of going back and forth on where to go. Being a food blogger, restaurant/food reviewer or whatever they thought I was, I was asked to suggest a nice place. Nice ambience with good food was needed, and budget was not a big constraint. At the same time did not want to splurge in five-star hotels. Back of my mind, wanted to go to a place where I’ve not been before so I could write something about it  😉 Continue reading
