Jonah’s Bistro, Velachery

Suddenly it felt like quite a long time since we, as a family, went out for dinner. Immediately made up a plan for Saturday evening – a movie at Jazz cinemas, followed by dinner in one of the restaurants in the shopping mall. That was it, we were all set for the evening!
After the movie, we had a quick discussion among ourselves and decided to have dinner at Jonah’s goes to Japan, probably now just called ‘Jonah’s Bistro, Velachery’. I have been here before and have had a good experience, so I was quite sure everything was going to be okay. Continue reading

Evoke 2.0, Velachery

Until a couple of years ago, Velachery was a place with two extremes if you wanted to have a drink. It was either the five-star hotels like Park Hyatt and Westin or the local TASMACs until Diff 42 changed the scene. Since they were the only place in the mid-segment, I felt they went a bit too overboard with their rules. Now there’s another place in Velachery that aims to tap into this space. Decided to check it out, along with a friend of mine. Continue reading

Rajdhani Thali Restaurant, Velachery

Rajdhani Thali Restaurant in Phoenix Market City is one of the nice options if you want to have a mix of Rajasthani & Gujarati cuisines in Chennai.  They’ve been having this promotion of ‘Tuesday Thali’ for quite sometime now, and the Thali is priced at 250 Rupees on all Tuesdays. I am not sure if this applies in all outlets, but the one in Phoenix Market City has it. This, I would definitely call a steal. Continue reading

Pind, Velachery

A lunch outing with dad, and it had to be a vegetarian place. Since we had some plans after lunch, we wanted to eat somewhere in Velachery! We prefer North-Indian to South-Indian anyday, hence Sangeetha, Andhikkadai and the likes were struck off the list. We were left with Haven Sampoorna and Pind, somehow I am a little partial to Pind, just for that paneer! We stepped into Pind around 01:30PM. Continue reading

Chaat Chatore and The London Shakes, Velachery

A cute little place that opened quite recently on the 100-Feet Road in Velachery! I’ve been eyeing this place for a while now, but somehow couldn’t visit. Finally one of my friends came home to meet me, and I dragged him along for a chaat dinner. I couldn’t be happier that I checked it off! Continue reading

The Red Box, Velachery

Recently on one of my drives from Velachery to Taramani, spotted this bright red place called The Red Box, serving Chinese food. I added it to my bucket list, but didn’t quite expect I’d get an opportunity to try it so soon. Its a either home-delivery or takeaway only, and no dine-in! Continue reading

Orange Wok, Velachery

Its been quite sometime that I blogged about my eating out, decided to write again!
This time, it was a quick visit to Orange Wok, in Velachery. We had just about an hour and a half before meeting someone, and didn’t want to venture too far away from Velachery. Remembered Orange Wok in the vicinity, decided to give it a shot! Continue reading

Cha Republic, Velachery

I’m not a big fan of this anymore, used to like it a few times when it was introduced in Chennai, way back in 2014, and then it got a bit monotonous. Its basically a drink with black tapioca pearls in it. I had to give in to kids’ demands after shopping, stepped into an empty store for drinks and side-eats. Continue reading

Pind, Velachery

Once upon a time, this was our favorite place for North-Indian/Punjabi food. Without a slightest hesitation, we would head there most of the time. Call it monotony, or whatever, we gradually stopped going here and it has been many months since I last visited. A friend and I were supposed to catch up with one of our friends who had come down from the US. We decided to try Pind for lunch. I was actually looking forward to the experience, just to see if it was still how I remembered it to be. Continue reading

Dallay, Velachery

I’ve been here a few times now, and my last visit to this place was many months ago.  I’ve written about the place a few times and I’ve blogged about it here and here, so I’m not starting all over again ! In short, Dallay, is just opposite to Phoenix Market city in Velachery and serves Tibetan cuisine. Continue reading
